Grievance Procedures
Competitive team athletes by their nature create situations where everyone may not be happy at all times. This procedure is designed to help athletes and parents with questions, concerns, or problems that may occur during the course of the season. This will ensure open communication between all parties involved.
Naples Juniors Inc. encourages the athlete to take responsibility for their participation. We expect the player to talk to the coach first when she has a problem concerning her playing time or is unclear about what the coach expects either in practice or in competition. The appropriate way to do this is for the athlete to ask the coach what she needs to do to get more opportunities to play in matches.
1. The athlete must first speak to the coach to discuss the matter. If the matter remains unresolved or if the athlete has reasonable concern that speaking to the coach will not resolve the matter then the parent should request a meeting with the coach and player.
2. The parent should contact with the player’s head coach to set up a meeting. Meetings are to be times or locations other than tournaments. If a parent during a tournament weekend approaches a coach, we have instructed the coach to refuse any controversial matter with the parent at that time. (24 Hour Rule) The recommend time for the parent and/or player to talk to a coach about a problem is a previously arranged meeting time either before or immediately after a scheduled practice.
3. The parent may request a meeting with our Director of Player and Coach Development for the program. In certain situations we may ask for the player to attend the meeting also. Meeting should be previously arranged. Meeting will not be scheduled during tournament weekends.
